The Artroom is determined to bring FUN and CHALLENGING art and craft activities to Andover, and beyond.
We offer activities for both children and adults, and offer both teacher training and practical events to local schools.
We are a centre for the nationally recognised Arts Awards.
Our home is in the Walworth Enterprise Centre, Andover.
The Artroom's Teacher - John Ritchie BEd (Hons)
John has had a love for art ever since he can remember. Early days of saving cereal boxes and scraps of card through to a career long passion of teaching art, have developed into a desire to help both children and adults produce art works that they are both challenged by, and proud of.
With 25 years classroom teaching experience, and over 16 years of those as the Head of the Art Department in some of the top Independent Prep Schools in the country, John is a skilled practitioner, and has a clear understanding of how people learn about art.
He is passionate that ‘art is for all’, and every one from young to old, boys and girls, the total beginner to the more proficient; they can all experience the excitement and satisfaction that art can bring.
You only need to spend a short time with him to catch his enthusiastic love of art and all it has to offer. All you need is just a few lessons in The Artroom, and you will soon be convinced that indeed ‘art is for all’.
John is a member of The National Society for Education in Art and Design, has enhanced DBS clearance, and is an Arts Award Advisor for Discover, Explore, Bronze and Silver level.
