Winter Tales – Teacher’s Anthology Overview
This collection brings together seven winter and Christmas stories from around the world, each celebrating generosity, courage, and the warmth of community.
To download a preview of the Winter Tales click on the image. There are copies of this A6 pocket sized booklet available for all the Primary Schools in Rushmore Borough, enough for one per child. These can be collected from Farnborough Library from Thursday 6th November onwards. This download is for teachers to preview the booklet, and not to be distributed.
From snowy forests in Europe to bright island skies in the Pacific, every tale reflects how different cultures share the same simple truth: kindness brings light, even in the darkest season.
These stories invite pupils to travel through traditions and landscapes — meeting talking animals, clever tricksters, and generous spirits — while exploring the values that connect us all. It is hoped that the tales reflect some of the nationalities of the children in your classroom.
There will be ones that are missing, but space was limited. If there are children of different cultures in your class perhaps, they could tell their ‘Winter Tale’ to you and the class.

Why These Stories Matter
Together, these seven tales show how storytelling connects people across cultures, continents, languages, and seasons.
We have more in common than we do differences.
They remind us that even in cold or dark times, kindness, honesty, and imagination bring warmth to every home — whether it’s lit by a candle, a fire, or the bright stars of the southern sea.
Winter Tales has been gifted to all the primary aged school children in Rushmoor Borough thanks to an Integration and Community Cohesion Grant.
